The term “Christian counselling” can be a minefield! Interpretations differ, denominations have different doctrines. Some Christians are wary of counselling in itself, preferring to keep those things that cause them worry and distress often to themselves or within their church environment or perhaps, just between them and God. This can sometimes lead to guilt and shame – why, if I’m a Christian, am I not more sorted?! I have been there and know the benefit of having professional counselling as a Christian. Your faith can form as much, or as little, or no part of your counselling with me. You may just want to know your counsellor is of the same faith as you, you may however want your faith to form a bigger part of your counselling journey. This is something we can discuss – this is your counselling and you direct the sessions and bring to them what is concerning you. You are free to set the pace, set the course and to change direction at any time.
